Production Planner
Bedford, MA | Full-Time Contract | $28–$35/hour DOE
Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with a manufacturer of precision optical components, motion control technologies, and automation solutions to hire a Production Planner for its Bedford, MA operation.
This role supports production scheduling, manufacturing work orders, material availability, inventory accuracy, and customer delivery commitments. You will work closely with production, purchasing, engineering, quality, and customer service to keep manufacturing priorities on track.
This is an initial six-month contract assignment, with potential extension up to one year and possible permanent hire based on business needs and performance.
Schedule and Work Arrangement
Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Primarily site-based in Bedford, MA, potential for some hybrid work
No travel required
Key Responsibilities
Maintain production and fulfillment schedules for a precision optical product line.
Create, update, and manage manufacturing work orders in the ERP system.
Coordinate production priorities and adjust schedules as requirements change.
Review inventory, material requirements, and long lead-time components to identify potential constraints.
Work with purchasing and other teams to resolve shortages and support material availability.
Maintain accurate inventory transactions and help resolve discrepancies.
Communicate schedule changes, material issues, and fulfillment priorities across departments.
Expedite materials and finished goods as needed to support production and customer commitments.
Help resolve out-of-stock situations, competing priorities, and scheduling issues.
Support planning process improvements, inventory initiatives, and SIOP activities.
Qualifications
At least 2 years of relevant manufacturing or supply chain experience.
Experience in production planning, materials planning, purchasing, expediting, materials management, or a related function.
Familiarity with manufacturing ERP/MRP systems, work orders, production scheduling, and inventory transactions.
Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
Ability to adapt to changing production priorities.
Bachelor’s degree in a business or technical field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Ability to commute regularly to Bedford, MA.
Preferred Qualifications
Oracle R12 experience; candidates with other manufacturing ERP experience are encouraged to apply.
Experience in optical, electronics, PCB, precision-component, or similar manufacturing environments.
APICS certification.
Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SIOP, or inventory improvement initiatives.
International purchasing or planning experience.
