Sapphire Recruitment is partnering with a respected healthcare organization seeking an experienced Director of Billing Services to lead billing operations and drive improvements across the revenue cycle.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with strong medical billing expertise and a proven ability to develop teams, improve processes, strengthen accountability, and deliver measurable results in collections, reimbursement, accounts receivable, and denial management.

Responsibilities

• Lead billing supervisors, team leaders, and staff supporting multiple clinical departments
• Establish performance expectations and provide coaching, training, and employee development
• Oversee recruiting, onboarding, and competency development for the billing team
• Develop and implement strategies to improve billing accuracy, reimbursement, collections, and cash flow
• Monitor key performance indicators related to claims, denials, accounts receivable, collections, and payment performance
• Analyze payer trends, reimbursement variances, and denial patterns and implement corrective actions
• Improve charge capture, claims submission, remittance, insurance follow-up, and collection processes
• Prepare operational and financial reports for senior leadership
• Partner with clinical, operational, compliance, and technology teams on revenue-cycle initiatives
• Ensure compliance with CMS, Medicaid, commercial payer, HIPAA, and applicable state and federal requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, finance, or a related field; equivalent education and experience may be considered
• 5–7+ years of progressively responsible medical billing, revenue cycle, or ambulatory operations experience
• 3–5+ years of leadership experience managing and developing billing teams
• Strong knowledge of payer requirements, reimbursement, charge and payment posting, insurance AR follow-up, denials, and collections
• Demonstrated success improving revenue-cycle KPIs and operational performance
• Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT coding, coordination of benefits, and Workers’ Compensation billing
• Strong analytical skills with experience using financial and operational data to identify and implement process improvements
• Extensive Epic experience, particularly Epic Resolute Professional Billing, strongly preferred
• Experience with another large-scale healthcare billing platform may also be considered
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, physicians, clinical teams, payers, employees, and patients

Position Details

This is a full-time, on-site position in Syracuse, NY. The Director will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, employee performance, training, and ongoing workflow improvement.

Salary: $92,000–$147,200, based on experience and qualifications.

The organization offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and employer-funded 401(k) contributions of up to 8%, subject to plan terms and vesting.
