A growing aviation technology company is seeking a versatile Senior Software Engineer to join its expanding US operation. The company develops air-traffic awareness technology supporting unmanned aircraft and advanced drone operations.
Its platform spans ground-based receiver hardware, embedded firmware, real-time data processing, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and customer-facing web applications. The engineer will work across multiple areas of the platform while collaborating closely with the company’s Europe-based Chief Technology Officer.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain software across the company’s aviation technology platform.
Develop performance-critical and system-level components using C and/or C++.
Work with embedded firmware, receivers, sensors, and hardware interfaces.
Support data flow from physical receivers through processing systems, cloud services, APIs, and web applications.
Develop backend services and customer-facing applications.
Troubleshoot issues involving hardware integration, memory, concurrency, data processing, cloud services, and application performance.
Collaborate on technical requirements, system architecture, and design decisions.
Take ownership of projects from initial requirements through implementation and production support.
Qualifications
Five or more years of professional software-engineering experience.
Strong professional proficiency in C and/or C++.
Experience developing web applications, backend services, frontend interfaces, or full-stack solutions.
Experience with embedded systems, firmware, sensors, receivers, device interfaces, or hardware-software integration.
Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, software design, memory management, and concurrency.
Ability to debug complex problems across multiple technical layers.
Experience with version control, testing, and code reviews.
Strong communication, problem-solving, and independent project-ownership skills.
Preferred experience includes Google Cloud Platform, REST APIs, real-time operating systems, telemetry, networking, aviation, drones, aerospace, defense, IoT, robotics, or autonomous systems.
The company prefers a Syracuse-area candidate but will consider remote candidates anywhere in the United States. This person will become a foundational member of the US technical team and may grow into a broader technical leadership role.
