Senior Human Resources Business Partner

A growing precision manufacturer serving the aerospace, defense, medical, power-generation, and industrial markets is seeking a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to establish and lead its internal HR function.
This newly created position will serve as the organization’s first dedicated HR resource, supporting approximately 60 employees across manufacturing, technical, and professional functions. Reporting directly to the President and General Manager, this person will combine hands-on HR administration with employee relations, recruiting, compliance, workforce development, and longer-term organizational planning.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR Generalist or Business Partner who is ready to take greater ownership, build processes, and make a visible impact within a growing organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employees, supervisors, and leadership
- Build, formalize, and continuously improve HR policies, practices, and procedures
- Review and modernize the employee handbook
- Partner with leadership to forecast staffing needs and develop recruiting strategies
- Create job descriptions and compliant job postings
- Source, screen, and interview candidates for hourly and professional positions
- Coordinate onboarding, orientation, and employee training
- Support employee relations, conflict resolution, workplace investigations, coaching, discipline, and terminations
- Ensure company policies are applied fairly and consistently
- Oversee performance reviews and help managers establish expectations and accountability
- Administer employee engagement, recognition, development, and retention initiatives
- Coordinate payroll inputs and verify employee data for accuracy
- Administer health, dental, vision, HRA, retirement, and paid-time-off programs
- Coordinate FMLA, New York Paid Family Leave, disability, workers’ compensation, and other leave programs
- Maintain organized and compliant employee records
- Monitor federal and New York employment-law requirements
- Coordinate required workplace training, including harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, and substance-use topics
- Partner with outside brokers, legal counsel, and other professional resources
- Monitor turnover, staffing levels, recruiting activity, retention, compensation, and other workforce metrics
- Analyze workforce information and provide practical recommendations to leadership
Qualifications
- Approximately five or more years of progressive human resources experience
- Broad experience across several HR disciplines, including employee relations, recruiting, benefits, payroll coordination, leave administration, and compliance
- Ability to work independently as a standalone HR resource
- Strong knowledge of federal and New York employment laws
- Manufacturing, industrial, distribution, construction, healthcare, or another employee-intensive background preferred
- Comfortable supporting a hands-on, blue-collar workforce
- Ability to conduct workplace investigations and navigate difficult conversations professionally
- Resourceful approach to researching unfamiliar HR matters and presenting recommendations
- Strong judgment, discretion, integrity, and commitment to confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred
- SHRM or HRCI certification is helpful but not required
Schedule and Work Environment
- Monday through Friday, approximately 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Primarily 100% on-site in Sharon Springs
- Occasional situational flexibility may be available
- Supports approximately 60 employees, including more than 40 shop-floor employees
- Manufacturing operation includes a full day shift and a developing second shift
- No regular travel expected
- No direct reports initially
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $70,000–$85,000, depending on experience
- Profit-sharing program typically providing approximately 5%–6% of annual earnings
- Employer-funded retirement contribution equal to approximately 10% of eligible prior-year earnings
