Shipping Coordinator
Pay Rate: $22-26.50/hr DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Shipping Coordinator to manage domestic and international sales and service shipments for a growing technical manufacturing operation in Syracuse, NY.
This position works closely with Production, Sales, Service, Quality, Compliance, and Accounting to make sure customer orders are packaged correctly, properly documented, and shipped on time.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate domestic and international sales and service shipments
- Verify quantities, labeling, packaging, and shipment readiness
- Prepare shipping documentation including packing lists, invoices, bills of lading, labels, and customs paperwork
- Obtain freight quotes and coordinate pickups and deliveries with carriers and freight forwarders
- Provide shipment status and tracking information to customers and internal teams
- Work with customs brokers to support international customs clearance
- Maintain daily packaging and shipping schedules with Production and other departments
- Identify and resolve shipping discrepancies or delays
- Confirm payment status with Accounting when required before releasing shipments
- Support Sales and Service with freight quotations for new orders
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–3+ years of related shipping, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, or similar experience preferred
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
- Experience preparing shipping documentation and coordinating freight
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications
- Ability to work effectively with customers, carriers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal departments
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve issues proactively
- Dependable, adaptable, team-oriented, and safety-conscious
- Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments
- Ability to lift and move materials as required
International shipping experience is especially helpful, including familiarity with customs documentation, commercial invoices, bills of lading, freight quotations, and customs brokers.
