Materials Expediter – Manufacturing
Irvine, CA | Fully Onsite | Contract Opportunity
Compensation: $27-$33/hour depending on experience
Our client, a global technology manufacturer serving the medical and advanced industrial markets, is seeking a Materials Expediter to support its purchasing and manufacturing operations in Irvine, California.
This is an excellent opportunity for an organized, responsive supply-chain professional who excels at following up with suppliers, tracking critical materials, resolving delivery problems, and keeping internal teams informed. The position is expected to continue through the end of 2026, with the possibility of extension or permanent employment based on performance and business needs. Extension or conversion is not guaranteed.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor open purchase orders daily and identify late or at-risk materials.
- Communicate with suppliers to confirm commitments and obtain updated delivery dates.
- Expedite critical components to support production schedules and priority projects.
- Resolve issues involving shortages, delayed shipments, documentation, logistics, and supplier responsiveness.
- Maintain accurate delivery dates, acknowledgements, tracking details, and order statuses within the ERP system.
- Provide Purchasing, Planning, and Operations with accurate, real-time information about material availability.
- Communicate material risks, root causes, recovery plans, and mitigation steps to internal stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Planning, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Purchasing to address supply interruptions.
- Help resolve quality holds, documentation delays, and other issues preventing materials from reaching production.
- Identify opportunities to improve expediting workflows, supplier communication, and ERP data accuracy.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in supply chain, purchasing, expediting, production control, material coordination, or a related function.
- Previous experience supporting a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with ERP or MRP systems such as Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or a comparable platform.
- Strong supplier communication and follow-through.
- Ability to clearly communicate urgent parts, supplier commitments, material risks, and delivery changes.
- Excellent organization and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Professional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Negotiation experience is not required.
Additional Details
- Fully onsite in Irvine, California.
- Preferred schedule is 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.
- Expected schedule of 40 hours per week.
- Temporary assignment expected to continue through the end of 2026.
- Potential extension or permanent opportunity may be available depending on performance and business needs, but is not guaranteed.
- No travel required.
- May occasionally lift items weighing up to approximately 20 pounds.
