Fleet Mechanic – 3rd Shift

Pay: $24–$30 per hour, depending on experience, plus shift differential
Schedule: Flexible overnight hours between 9:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.

Sapphire Recruitment is seeking mechanically inclined Fleet Mechanics to support the transportation department of a local fleet operation. This is a strong opportunity for someone with diesel maintenance experience who can perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs while continuing to build advanced diagnostic skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on tractors, trailers, and dollies.
• Identify worn components, developing problems, and potential equipment failures.
• Assist with diagnosing and repairing diesel engines and related systems.
• Complete basic repairs on 12-volt electrical systems.
• Support repairs involving brakes, suspension, lighting, and other fleet components.
• Document completed maintenance and repairs using computerized systems.
• Perform basic welding tasks as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of diesel engines and related components.
• Previous fleet, diesel, automotive, heavy equipment, or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Ability to perform preventive maintenance services with limited supervision.
• Basic understanding of 12-volt electrical systems.
• Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn more advanced repairs.
• Basic computer skills.
• Basic welding knowledge preferred.
• Must have personal tools appropriate for the work being performed.
• New York State Inspection certification and A/C certification are a plus.
• Must be available to work flexible 3rd-shift hours.
