Materials Engineer – Polymer (63 - 85K)

We are seeking a Materials Engineer to work for a global manufacturing leader near the Binghamton, NY area. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Key Duties Include:
  • Investigate product failures and perform root cause analysis.
  • Serve as the technical expert for polymers, adhesives, plastics, and elastomers.
  • Research and evaluate new materials and technologies.
  • Troubleshoot material related issues with engineering, manufacturing, and customers.
  • Qualify and develop new material suppliers.
  • Create and maintain material and process specifications.
  • Coordinate material testing and interpret laboratory results.
  • Manage and maintain the materials testing laboratory.
  • Review material selections for compliance with customer and industry standards.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with polymer materials, adhesives, elastomers, plastics, or related materials preferred.
  • Knowledge of AMS, ASTM, military, aerospace, or industry material specifications is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with analytical laboratory techniques such as FTIR, DSC, or similar material characterization methods preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical report writing skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without restriction indefinitely.
