IT Helpdesk Technician

$23–$26/hour
On-site, with local travel between offices as needed

Sapphire Recruitment is seeking an IT Helpdesk Technician for a growing technology company in Syracuse, NY. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and working closely with end users in a fast-paced technical environment.

The IT Helpdesk Technician will provide first-level support across macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu systems while assisting with user administration, device setup, Microsoft 365 support, and IT security best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner
  • Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, software, connectivity, and user access issues
  • Support macOS, Windows 10, and Ubuntu desktops and laptops
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, Office apps, and licensing
  • Support engineering/development software issues, including licensing
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and group memberships in Active Directory and Microsoft 365
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding, device provisioning, and equipment setup
  • Support Windows Server environments and shared resources as needed
  • Assist with device compliance, policy enforcement, and application management through Microsoft Intune or similar MDM/MAM platforms
  • Maintain documentation of common issues, procedures, and resolutions
  • Partner with IT security staff to follow internal security protocols and support compliance efforts
  • Escalate complex issues to higher-level technical staff when appropriate
  • Provide occasional after-hours or weekend support for critical updates, maintenance, or business continuity needs

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related field and 1+ year of relevant experience, or 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience
  • Experience in a helpdesk or ticket-based support environment
  • Working knowledge of macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu operating systems
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365 administration
  • Experience with Microsoft Intune or a similar device management platform preferred
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-171 and CMMC frameworks preferred but not required
  • Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow in a technical environment

Compensation and Benefits

This direct hire opportunity offers $23–$26/hour and a comprehensive benefits package.
