IT Helpdesk Technician
$23–$26/hour
On-site, with local travel between offices as needed
Sapphire Recruitment is seeking an IT Helpdesk Technician for a growing technology company in Syracuse, NY. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical support, troubleshooting, and working closely with end users in a fast-paced technical environment.
The IT Helpdesk Technician will provide first-level support across macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu systems while assisting with user administration, device setup, Microsoft 365 support, and IT security best practices.
Responsibilities
- Respond to and resolve helpdesk tickets in a timely and professional manner
- Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, software, connectivity, and user access issues
- Support macOS, Windows 10, and Ubuntu desktops and laptops
- Assist users with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, Office apps, and licensing
- Support engineering/development software issues, including licensing
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and group memberships in Active Directory and Microsoft 365
- Assist with onboarding, offboarding, device provisioning, and equipment setup
- Support Windows Server environments and shared resources as needed
- Assist with device compliance, policy enforcement, and application management through Microsoft Intune or similar MDM/MAM platforms
- Maintain documentation of common issues, procedures, and resolutions
- Partner with IT security staff to follow internal security protocols and support compliance efforts
- Escalate complex issues to higher-level technical staff when appropriate
- Provide occasional after-hours or weekend support for critical updates, maintenance, or business continuity needs
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology or a related field and 1+ year of relevant experience, or 3+ years of hands-on IT support experience
- Experience in a helpdesk or ticket-based support environment
- Working knowledge of macOS, Windows, and Ubuntu operating systems
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Windows Server, and Microsoft 365 administration
- Experience with Microsoft Intune or a similar device management platform preferred
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
- Familiarity with NIST 800-171 and CMMC frameworks preferred but not required
- Eagerness to learn, adapt, and grow in a technical environment
Compensation and Benefits
