Customs Brokerage Supervisor
Compensation: $70,000–$90,000 annually, depending on experience

Our client is seeking an experienced Customs Brokerage Supervisor to join its growing customs brokerage operation in Syracuse, NY. This is a newly created leadership role designed to support the Customs Brokerage Manager, oversee a busy brokerage team, and help ensure compliance, accuracy, and consistency across daily import operations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong customs brokerage experience who is ready to step into leadership or continue growing within a stable, expanding organization.  This is a fully onsite role.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and support Customs Brokerage Coordinators, Entry Writers, and billing personnel
• Partner with the Customs Brokerage Manager to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and brokerage procedures
• Oversee Section 321 and Type 86 entry requirements for air and ocean shipments
• Monitor workflow, productivity, entry accuracy, billing, audits, and file quality
• Review and resolve problem files while coordinating corrective action with internal teams and bonded facilities
• Provide guidance on customs compliance matters, import procedures, and documentation requirements
• Stay current on customs regulations, trade programs, and legislative changes
• Assist with employee training, coaching, performance management, and departmental best practices
• Promote compliance with company policies, C-TPAT requirements, and workplace safety standards

Qualifications

• 2+ years of customs brokerage, customs compliance, import/export, or international trade experience required
• Strong understanding of U.S. Customs regulations and brokerage operations
• Experience reviewing and processing customs entries and import documentation
• Knowledge of customs valuation, tariff classification, audits, trade programs, compliance reviews, disclosures, and related customs activities
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Strong technical brokerage candidates ready to move into leadership will be considered
• Experience with CargoWise One or similar customs brokerage software preferred
• Knowledge of Foreign Trade Zones, bonded warehouses, and inbound logistics processes is a plus
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Customs Broker License

A U.S. Customs Broker License is highly preferred but not required. Candidates with strong customs brokerage experience are encouraged to apply. The company offers support and reimbursement for employees pursuing Customs Broker Licensure, making this a strong long-term growth opportunity.
