Material Handling Specialist
Syracuse, NY | $19–$27/hour

Sapphire Recruitment is seeking a Material Handling Specialist for a well-established manufacturing organization in Syracuse, NY. This role is ideal for someone with strong inventory, warehouse, material handling, and driving experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

In this position, you will safely load, unload, transport, and track materials across multiple facilities using 26-foot non-CDL box trucks and sprinter vans. You will also operate material handling equipment, support inventory accuracy, and help keep production and warehouse operations running smoothly.

What You’ll Do

• Load, unload, and transport materials between multiple company facilities
• Drive 26-foot non-CDL box trucks and sprinter vans
• Verify materials for accuracy and report equipment or inventory issues promptly
• Operate forklifts, lift trucks, pallet jacks, balers, and shrink wrap machines safely
• Complete accurate inventory transactions using MRP software and handheld/scanning devices
• Support cycle counts, inventory accuracy, and material movement in a manufacturing setting
• Research and resolve basic discrepancies related to transfers, unit of measure issues, and vendor pack counts
• Follow OSHA, safety, attendance, timekeeping, and company policy requirements
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and participate in 6S activities
• Communicate professionally with internal teams and external contacts
• Assist with process improvement projects as needed

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of experience in inventory, warehouse, production, or material handling
• Valid, clean driver’s license with at least one year of driving experience
• No DWIs or license suspensions
• Experience with forklifts, lift trucks, pallet jacks, or similar equipment preferred
• Basic computer skills and ability to use inventory/MRP systems
• Ability to read, write, and follow standard work instructions in English
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency
• Ability to frequently lift 50 pounds or more
• Willingness to complete required forklift safety, ESD, and ISO awareness training
• Availability to work overtime as needed

Additional experience that is helpful: hazardous material handling and/or lean manufacturing experience.
