Salary: $85,000–$115,000

Sapphire Recruitment is seeking a Solar Estimator – Electrical for a fully remote opportunity with a growing company in the renewable energy industry. This role will support utility-scale solar projects across the U.S. by developing accurate and competitive estimates for DC electrical balance of system work.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who understands the connection between solar design, project cost, constructability, labor efficiency, and field execution. The position is remote with limited travel, approximately 10–15%, primarily to the Syracuse, NY area. East Coast candidates are strongly preferred.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop detailed electrical estimates for solar EBOS scopes, including DC string wire, homeruns, trunk bus systems, combiners, connectors, grounding systems, and terminations
  • Perform quantity takeoffs from site layouts, one-lines, and construction drawings
  • Build and maintain labor and material cost models
  • Evaluate copper, aluminum, and other commodity pricing impacts
  • Review DC system designs for cost savings, constructability, and installation efficiency
  • Partner with engineering teams on wire sizing, routing, voltage architecture, prefabrication opportunities, and field labor reduction strategies
  • Price prefabricated electrical solutions and other value-engineered options
  • Coordinate with procurement teams and suppliers on pricing, sourcing, and lead times
  • Support bid reviews, pricing strategy discussions, and value engineering efforts
  • Clearly document scope assumptions, exclusions, risks, and project-specific considerations

What We’re Looking For

  • 2–5+ years of experience in solar design, EBOS estimating, electrical estimating, or electrical engineering
  • Strong understanding of solar PV EBOS systems
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical one-lines, site layouts, and construction drawings
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience building cost models
  • Strong understanding of labor, material, and installation cost drivers
  • Ability to connect engineering decisions to project cost, schedule, and constructability
  • Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, and pricing strategy mindset
  • Ability to work well with engineering, procurement, business development, and project teams

Preferred Experience

  • Utility-scale solar project experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, or similar tools
  • Experience working with EPCs, developers, or electrical contractors
  • Experience with prefabricated electrical systems
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field

This is an excellent opportunity to join a company working on innovative utility-scale solar projects and helping support the future of renewable energy infrastructure.
