Project Manager – EV Charging Programs
Location: Remote; proximity to Albany, NY or New York City preferred
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week
Duration: 3-year contract
Sapphire Recruitment is seeking a highly organized and proactive Project Manager to support clean transportation and EV charging infrastructure programs across New York State. This role will help manage a growing portfolio of electric vehicle charging projects, contracts, stakeholders, and reporting requirements from award through construction and installation.
This is a high-volume, execution-focused position ideal for someone who can manage many moving parts, communicate clearly, and take ownership without needing constant direction.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Manage and track multiple contracts and projects tied to EV charging grant programs
- Support projects from solicitation and award through construction and installation
- Coordinate with awardees, consultants, contractors, utilities, government stakeholders, and internal teams
- Monitor project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and documentation
- Prepare status updates, reports, slide decks, meeting notes, forms, and other program communications
- Support contract administration, approvals, environmental reviews, and compliance requirements
- Work closely with legal, contracts, and program teams to keep documentation and project milestones moving
- Identify project issues, help resolve roadblocks, and escalate concerns when needed
- Maintain organized records in internal systems and tracking tools
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3–6+ years of project management experience preferred
- Experience managing multiple projects, contracts, deadlines, and stakeholders at once
- Strong organizational, follow-up, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to create clear project updates, contract summaries, reports, and meeting notes
- Comfort reviewing project budgets, tracking spend, and identifying potential issues
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, plus proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and virtual collaboration tools
- Ability to learn new systems quickly, including CRM or program management platforms
- Strong judgment, professionalism, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Positive, flexible approach and comfort working through ambiguity
- Ability to attend occasional in-person meetings in Albany, NY or New York City
Preferred Experience
The following experience is helpful but not required:
- EV charging, electric vehicles, clean transportation, or energy program experience
- Government grant programs or state/federally funded infrastructure projects
- Utility programs, construction coordination, or contract management
- Vendor, consultant, or contractor relationship management
- Environmental review or compliance processes
- Salesforce, NEIS, or similar program data systems
