Field Service Technician / 62231
$17-$20/hour
Sapphire Recruitment is hiring a Field Service Technician in the Syracuse, NY area. This is a field-based role—no office reporting—focused on servicing POS (Point of Sale) systems for independent grocery stores and gas stations.
What You’ll Do:
Travel to client sites for installation, troubleshooting, and repair of POS hardware and basic networking issues
Use mechanical and diagnostic skills to replace or repair components
Deliver professional face-to-face customer service
Perform proactive courtesy visits when not responding to service calls
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (about once/month) with premium pay and shift differentials for evenings/weekends
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM
On-call rotation required (nights/weekends as needed)
Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude; comfortable with tools and hands-on hardware work
Strong communication and customer service skills
Valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided)
Background in telecom, help desk, or technical support a plus
Reliable, self-motivated, and seeking long-term employment
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer/networking knowledge
Compensation & Benefits:
$17-$20/hour based on experience
Time and a half for on-call service
Shift differential for work after 8 PM and on weekends
