Sapphire Recruitment is seeking an experienced Toolmaker to support a precision manufacturing and development environment in Syracuse, NY. This role focuses on producing prototype components and specialized tooling used in product development and manufacturing operations.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
(30-minute lunch and two 15-minute breaks)

Key Responsibilities

• Machine and finish intricate prototype parts from drawings, sketches, or specifications

• Set up and operate manual machines including lathes, milling machines, and grinders

• Verify finished parts meet tight tolerances and quality standards

• Perform hand and bench work to complete precision components

• Design and fabricate tooling to support manufacturing or R&D requirements

• Modify existing parts based on engineering instructions

• Maintain production equipment and perform routine preventive maintenance

• Maintain accurate records and follow all quality and safety procedures

• Support various departments as needed to meet project deadlines

Qualifications

• Completion of a toolmaking apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience

• 5+ years of experience in a job shop or precision machining environment preferred

• Strong ability to machine parts from drawings or sketches

• Experience machining a variety of metals including stainless steel and copper

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
