Field Service Technician – Connecticut / 62158
$21.00–$25.00/hour
Sapphire Recruitment is hiring a Field Service Technician to cover sites throughout Connecticut, Long Island, and parts of New Jersey and Massachusetts. Ideal candidates will be based near New Haven, CT, with access to the ferry for efficient travel. This is a field-based role—no office reporting—focused on servicing POS (Point of Sale) systems for independent grocery stores and gas stations.
What You’ll Do:
Travel to client sites for installation, troubleshooting, and repair of POS hardware and basic networking issues
Use mechanical and diagnostic skills to replace or repair components
Deliver professional face-to-face customer service
Perform proactive courtesy visits when not responding to service calls
Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (about once/month) with premium pay and shift differentials for evenings/weekends
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM
On-call rotation required (nights/weekends as needed)
Qualifications:
Mechanical aptitude; comfortable with tools and hands-on hardware work
Strong communication and customer service skills
Valid driver’s license (company vehicle provided)
Background in telecom, help desk, or technical support a plus
Reliable, self-motivated, and seeking long-term employment
High school diploma or equivalent
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer/networking knowledge
Compensation & Benefits:
$21–$25/hour based on experience
Time and a half for on-call service
Shift differential for work after 8 PM and on weekends
