Senior Cost Accountant
$80,000 – $100,000+ annually (DOE)
Our client, a rapidly growing manufacturer of complex products with a multi-site operation, is seeking a hands-on and analytically driven Senior Cost Accountant to join their dynamic finance team in Auburn, NY. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with strong manufacturing experience and an aptitude for process improvement, financial analysis, and cost accounting.
The Senior Cost Accountant will play a critical role in cost analysis, margin reporting, inventory management, and financial strategy while working closely with cross-functional teams in supply chain, operations, and engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cost accounting activities, including standard cost updates, variance analysis, and margin reporting.
- Perform detailed flux analysis and account reconciliations to identify key business drivers and opportunities for improvement.
- Partner with supply chain and operations teams to track raw materials, WIP, and finished goods inventories.
- Support and enhance financial reporting processes, delivering actionable insights to leadership.
- Provide recommendations for cost efficiencies and process improvements across departments.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Participate in ERP reporting, leveraging IQMS (training provided if needed).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA a plus).
- 3+ years of hands-on manufacturing cost accounting experience
- Proven ability to perform cost and variance analysis, margin reporting, and inventory reconciliation.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems (IQMS or Epicor a plus; other systems acceptable).
- Strong analytical thinking and communication skills; ability to work across departments.
- Detail-oriented and proactive in asking questions, identifying gaps, and driving process improvements.
