About the Role:
Our client, a state-affiliated energy authority, is seeking a Senior Advisor to support long-term nuclear decommissioning efforts under a nationally significant environmental remediation program. This role provides high-level technical and strategic guidance for site management decision-making, specifically focused on performance assessment modeling, groundwater analysis, and regulatory compliance.

This is a rare opportunity to work on a legacy nuclear cleanup project with national implications, where your technical knowledge and strategic insight will directly inform public policy and environmental outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide subject matter expertise to support Phase 2 alternatives for a Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement
  • Analyze groundwater sampling trends and provide insights across multiple site elements
  • Lead review and continuous refinement of the GoldSim performance assessment model
  • Develop technical briefing materials for senior state stakeholders and decision-makers
  • Conduct uncertainty analysis and model verification to support regulatory milestones
  • Contribute to broader team efforts within the site management program

Must-Have Qualifications:
  • 10+ years of experience in nuclear/environmental policy, regulation, or remediation
  • Strong command of U.S. NRC regulations and guidance (e.g., NUREG-1757, WIR-related guidance)
  • Robust hands-on experience with GoldSim (this is essential – the platform drives model work)
  • Ability to develop well-reasoned, technically sound policy solutions for complex decommissioning challenges
  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, and presentation skills
  • Advanced degree in nuclear engineering, environmental engineering, or a related discipline

Preferred Experience:
  • Prior experience as a regulator or technical advisor on nuclear matters
  • Familiarity with West Valley Demonstration Project (WVDP) or similar decommissioning programs
  • Proven ability to synthesize technical data into clear, decision-ready guidance for senior leadership
