Accounting Practice Leader – Tax Focus
Location:  Capital Region
Type: Full-Time | Senior Manager / Director / Partner Track
Compensation: Up to $175K+ depending on experience

Our client, a highly respected CPA and advisory firm headquartered in Central New York, is expanding into the Capital Region. They’re seeking an experienced and entrepreneurial accounting professional to lead and grow their new office.

This is an ideal role for someone who:

• Wants to step into a leadership role with real authority, a built-in client base, and firm-wide support
• Is feeling stuck in their current role—with limited upward mobility and no real path to leadership
• Started in public accounting, moved into private industry, and is now considering a return to public

What You’ll Do:

• Lead and manage engagements throughout the firm’s client base
• Provide tax compliance and advisory services to firm clients in a variety of industries
• Drive growth in the Capital Region through relationship-building and business development
• Act as the face of the firm locally, with strategic input from the broader leadership team

Who You Are:

• A CPA with 7–15+ years in public accounting, preferably as a Tax Manager, Senior Manager, Director, or Partner
• Experienced in managing clients, engagements, and small teams
• Entrepreneurial and confident, with a desire to oversee and grow a business unit
• Skilled at developing long-term client relationships
• Comfortable operating independently while having centralized support behind you

Qualifications:

• Active CPA license required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• Experience in individual, partnership, and corporate tax prep/review
• Background in public accounting required; candidates returning from industry may be considered
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Familiarity with tax software platforms (e.g., CCH, GoSystem, etc.)
